Mathrubhumi bags Calicut University Gandhian chair award

Thenjipalam: Mathrubhumi has bagged the award instituted by Gandhian Study Centre of University of Calicut, considering the various activities organized by Mathrubhmi in relation to celebrating the 75 th year's anniversary of Gandhijis visit to Mathrubhumi. The award carries a certificate, Gandhi memorial symbol and a set of Gandhis writings. A committee with Vice Chancellor Prof Anwar Jahan Zuberi as the chairman, the first visiting professor of the chair Dr R Surendran, former co-coordinator K Vedavyasan, Kerala Sarvodaya Mandalam state president Thayatt Balan as the members made the decision. The committee evaluated that the seminar organized by Mathrubhumi in various districts, felicitation of 186 freedom fighters, participation of renowned writers, social activists and members from Gandhiji's family in seminars , publishing of Malayalam versions of eight noted books written by Gandhiji and others about him, have recreated the upbeat atmosphere during the national awakening and were able to encourage young minds.
