Kannur : The Food Security Bill will ensure food security to all people in the country, Union Minister of State for Home, Mullappally Ramachandran said today.
Inaugurating an exhibition of farm products ''Polika-Malabar Farm Fest-2011'' here, jointly organised by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Thalassery Social Service Society (TSSS), he said the fest would help promote agriculture and agriculture-based products and create awareness among the younger generation of farmers about organic farming methods.
The UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had given top priority to agriculture production since 10th five-year plan and a record of 233.88 million tonnes food production was achieved in the previous year.
But 21.1 per cent people in villages were not getting sufficent food when the country got record production. This was seen as a paradox, he added.
