Kannur : Malabar Devaswom Board (MDB) President P Chanthukutty today said Rs three crore would be distributed to 892 temples in Malabar region for renovation works.
Devaswom Minister Ramachandran Kadanappally would inaugurate the fund distribution in a function on January 9 at Perallassery Subramanya Swami Temple in Kannur.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Chanthukutty said last year Rs two crore was distributed under MDB temple renovation funds.
The temples from Palakkad to Kasargod districts were selected on a meeting held at December 7 convened by Mr Ramachandran.
Out of 892 temples, 502 temples were under MDB and 390 under Management in C and D section. The MDB had given priority to temples controlled by SC/ST society for which 7.15 lakh had been sanctioned to 59 temples.
The details of temples' names and funds could be accessed from www.malabardevaswom.kerala.gov.in website, he added.
District-wise allocation of funds was Rs 58.5 lakh to 179 temples in Kasargod, Rs 67.1 lakh to 208 temples in Thalassery, Rs 58.5 lakh to 199 temples in Kozhikode and Rs 59.65 lakh to 189 temples in Malappuram district.
MDB's main agenda was to retain the temple lands for which notice would be issued soon to the violators of land rules.
Temple funds deposited in banks would be utilised to set up welfare measures to conduct service activities in schools and hospitals, he added.
