Lottery: PB to censure VS

New Delhi: The CPM politburo meeting convened in Kolkata on Sunday has decided to take action against Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for his stand demanding a CBI probe into the inter state lottery case without the consent of the party. . The two day meet had decided to censure VS which would not be a public one but will be delivered in the central committee in which Achuthanandan is also a member. The PB decision was based on the report of the party's state secretariat The PB meeting pointed out that VS had send an intimation to the Centre demanding a CBI probe on the lottery issue without the consent of the party. But at the same time PB did not agreed with the demand of the state committee which asked to take severe action against Achuthanandan, including his suspension from the party. With the assembly election in the offing his ouster would affect the party, PB pointed out .

Achuthanandan had on December 26th appealed to the Centre for initiating a CBI probe into the Inter state lottery case. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Achuthanandan had sought permission for a CBI probe into the lottery case.
