Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress (S) is heading for a split due to various internal crises. The split looks evident following the suspension of general secretary N V Pradeep Kumar by party president Kadannapilly Ramachandran. After the suspension, Pradeep Kumar openly came out against Kadannapilly stating that the party is set for a split and he would stand with the LDF.
The reason for the split also relates to not nominating a person to PSC membership which has been allotted for the party. Kadannapilly nominated Manilal from Kollam and withdrew it due to mounting pressure. Though the party asked him to nominate another person, he did not do so, resulting in the CPM bagging the PSC membership.
On Monday, Pradeep Kumar went to attend the LDF meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. But on his way Kadannapilly asked him not to attend the meeting. When asked Kadananpilly about the same, he said Pradeep did not attend due to personal reasons.
Later, in a press release Kadanapilly said that Pradeep Kumar had been suspended for venturing into anti-party activities. Pradeep said that he had not done anything against the party.
