Technopark employees can now pay bills at campus

Thiruvananthapuram : Over 30,000 employees at the Technopark campus here can now seek the help of the Citizen Service Centre of the state-run Akshaya project to pay their bills as a centre was opened in the campus Wednesday. The centre will accept electricity, water and telephone bills, apart from offering railway ticket reservation and filing of e-return for commercial taxes.

'Keeping in view of Akshaya CSC's utility for all those working in Technopark around the clock, we have offered space at a subsidised price for the first time,' said Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark.

Akshaya was launched in 2002 by then president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as a pilot project in Malappuram district.

It was aimed at bridging the digital divide and to address the issues of information communication technology (ICT) access, basic skill sets and ensure that at least one member in every family was made technology literate through the Akshaya centre.
