Kochi : An International short film festival SCRIPT-2011 (Social and Corporate Responsibility International Promotional Theater) will be held here on January 28 and 29.
Informing this at a news conference, Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis President P C Cheriyan said SCRIPT-2011, will be a film festival with a difference, focussing on short films pertaining to social issues and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The festival, first of its kind in the country, was an initiative of Rotary International District 3201`, covering part of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is being organized by Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis, he added.
SCRIPT 2011 was open to film makers from across the globe and short films were invited based on the issues like world peace, climate change, preserve planet earth, environment, clean water, international understanding and goodwill, population issues, urban concerns, health and hunger, senior citizens and children at risk and child mortality, he said.
From 150 movie entries, 37 films in four categories were selected by a seven member preliminary jury, he said and added that in addition to the competitive section, there were showcase films from eminent film makers like Mike Pandy, sanjay Barnela, sriprakash and Vanaja.
A six-member jury, with actress-filmaker Revathy as the chairperson and Anita Pratap, Beena Paul, AjithanKurup, E P Unny and Jose Dominic would select the winning film, he added.
