Marad : Prime conspirator held

Kozhikode: The shadow police on Sunday held the key conspirator behind the Marad massacre. The 95th accused in the case, Kuttikkantakath Purakkal Hydrose alias Koyamon, (45), of Kadalundi in Malappuram district was held from Kozhikode by a police team headed by Assistant Commissioner Jaison K Abraham. Koyamon has been absconding all these years. The police said Koyamon was hiding in the city itself. The arrest was made on the basis of a tip off received by the city police commissioner P Vijayan. He was held from the Nainanvalappu near the South Beach of Kozhikode. He was staying in his relative's house for the last four years. Even the neighbors were not aware that he was residing there.

In an attack on May 2, 2003, eight workers of the Hindu Araya Samajam were massacred at the fishing village in Marad, which had witnessed a bloody riot in January.
