Nedumbassery : The Sabarimala Infrastrucuture Development Fund Trust Board has decided to take up massive development projects at the famed hill Sabarimala in an effort to increase the facilities of pilgrims.
Talking to reporters after the board meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (Devaswoms) K Jayakumar told reporters last night that an estimated Rs 100 crore developmental work would be taken up at Sabarimala before the next pilgrimage season.
The projects would be completed on a priority basis once the financial sanction was accorded, he said, adding sponsors would be found out to implement some schemes.
The first priority would be given to develop Nilackal base camp and resting facilities for pilgrims would be increased there. With this facility, the crowd proceeding to the Sabarimala Sanctum Sanctorum could be restricted and accidents avoided.
More queue complexes would also be introduced in the area to reduce the congestion in the queues moving to the Sreekovil for darsan.
Vehicle parking area would be expanded. A check-dam would be constructed to enhance the storage capacity of water.
