    Benevolent Fund for destitute musicians

    Thiruvananthapuram : Noted south Indian playback singer K S Chitra is all set to launch a benevolent fund for the destitute musicians who were rendered jobless with the advancement of technology in music industry. The fund titled 'Sneha' with the support of Kerala based cable network 'ACV' here was envisaged to provide help to musicians with financial impediments and those suffering from health problems, Chitra has said. Chitra, who had rendered more than 25,000 film songs and won several national and state awards, said that there were lot
    of instrumental musicians who lost their jobs with the coming of technology in music industry.

    Recalling her earlier days as a singer, she said film songs recordings were used to done along with live orchestra
    playing. Now technology has replaced the instruments, she said.

    'Things have changed now. Some time we know the duet singing parter only when one saw a casette of the songs', she said.
    Senior musicians used to give tips on various aspects, she said adding 'all those things have become a past'.

    Fund would formally launched at a function organised to failitate Chitra on her completion of 30-years of musical
    career on February 15 here, Well-known Film Director T K Rajeev Kumar and ACV Executive N N Vivekanandan Nair.
    The musical night named' Chitrapournami'would bring together some of the most famous musicians on the same stage. Singers K J Yesudas,Hariharan, S P Balasburamaniam, S Janaki and P Susheela, Sujatha were some of the singers who had confirmed their participation, Rajeev Kumar said. PTI
