Kochi: The day when Sowmya, the victim in the train rape incident, succumbed to her injuries, a man was held while trying to misbehave with a woman in the train. The man who was trying to misbehave with a woman sleeping in another berth was held by the co-passengers and handed over to the RPF.
The incident occurred on Sunday in the Maveli Express from Thiruvananathapuram to Mangalore. The youth Antony Suresh, 23, from Kanayakumari Keezhkulam tried to misbehave with a woman, junior inspector at government ITI. The incident occurred at 11.15 pm when the train reached Kumbalam. The women who was sleeping woke up and alerted the co-passengers.
The man fled the scene when the co-passengers were alerted. Then they conducted a search with the help of RPF and found the man hiding in one of the toilets. The woman identified the youth. Antony Suresh is an employee at a fishing boat in Vadakara. The man was handed over to the railway police at Ernakulum South railway stations and was remanded.
