Thiruvananthapuram:Taking cue from the recent Pullumedu stampede in which 102 Ayyappa pilgrims were killed, Kerala Government today announced that the first phase of the Sabarimala Master Plan would be implemented within an year
to avoid such tragedies in the future. The works under the plan would be implemented by availing Rs 50 crore as loan and Rs 25 crore to be mobilised through
sponsorshi , state budget for 2011-12 presented in the assembly by Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac said.
A budgetary provision of Rs 25 crore was made for the project.
The works to be executed under the project would include development of parking bay at the base camp Nilakkar where
1500 vehicles could park at atime, an emergency ambulance road at Pampa and a flyover at the rear side of the temple
for devotees to come down after offering worship. PTI
