Thirumavalavan to attend last rites of Parvathi Pillai

Chennai : Viduthalai Chirutheigal Katchi (VCK) founder and pro-LTTE leader Thol Thirumavalavan, MP, today condoled the death of Parvathi Pillai, mother of slain LTTE chief V Prabhakaran, and said he would participate in her last rites in Sri Lanka on Tuesday. 'Her death is shocking. She lived her last days without any near and dear ones on her side,' he said in a statement here.

His party flags will fly half-mast for three days as a mark of respect for the deceased, Thirumavalavan, whose party is an
ally of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, said.

He said he would participate in the last rites of Pillai scheduled at Valvettithurai in the island nation on Tuesday.

The 81-year-old Pillai had died of multiple ailments like diabtetes and heart problem at a hospital in northern Jaffna this morning.

Though survived by three children--two married daughters each in Toronto and Chennai and a son in Denmark, they were
not ready to visit Sri Lanka but had been helping her financially during her last days. PTI
