    Rahul plays the Good Samaritan

Playing the Good Samaritan, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday helped rush an injured man lying on Krishna Menon Marg here to a hospital in one of his escort vehicles.

Kale Ram (45), a beldar with the New Delhi Municipal Council, was going towards his office at Palika Kendra on a motorcycle around noon when he was hit by a vehicle from behind. Kale Ram lost his balance, fell on the road and sustained shoulder injuries.

Just as a passer-by rushed towards the victim, Mr. Gandhi, who happened to be passing by, stopped his cavalcade and got down to enquire about his condition. Mr. Gandhi got the victim removed to one of the escort vehicles and asked the security personnel to take him to a hospital.

“A Police Control Room van also reached the spot and piloted Mr. Gandhi's escort vehicle to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the victim, a resident of Dakshinpuri, has been admitted. The accident took place near the residence of the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” said a police officer. Kale Ram dislocated his shoulder in the accident. The police have registered a case of causing injury due to rash and negligent driving and arrested the erring cab driver, identified as Ajay. The vehicle has also been impounded.
