Kochi : Police have arrested an advocate couple in connection with the death of an 11-year-old girl working with them as maid servant.The accused were identified as Jose Kurian and his wife Sindhu, police said, adding they registered a murder case against them.
According to post-mortem report, the cause of the death of the girl was confirmed as infection from the burn wounds on her body and pneumonia, Aluva Superintendent of Police T Vikram, who is investigating the incident, told UNI.
In the preliminary investigation, the accused admitted the wounds on the girl were caused by them, he claimed.
A case has been registered for murder, he said adding the couple would be produced before the court tomorrow.
The shocking incident took place at Aluva as the girl, identified as Dhanalakshmi, a native of Kadalur in Tamil Nadu, was admitted to the Kolencherry Medical Mission Hospital on Wednesday last with burn injuries on the whole of her body, sources said.
However, she died in the wee hours on Thursday as she was in coma stage when admitted to the hospital.
