Kozhikode : The radical Muslim outfit Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) will contest the April 13 Assembly polls in Kerala by fielding candidates against both the ''corrupt'' principal political formations in the state.Talking to newspersons here today, SDPI state General Secretary P A Majeed Faizi and Secretary Thulaseedharan Pallikkal said the SDPI had decided to contest against the ''corrupt'' Congress-led Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) and ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), headed by the CPI (M) aimed at strengthening backward, Dalit and marginalised sections of the society.
People in the state were suffering because of the ''anti-people'' policies adopted by these conglomerations, which practised ''mafia politics'' in the state, they said.
Top leaders of these fronts were languishing in jail for corrupt practices and causing losses to the public exchequer, they said, adding some of them were facing trials on similar charges.
They accused the leadership of the fronts of influencing the judiciary, indulging in scams, withdrawal of criminal cases involving off springs of the ministers and having close ties with the corporate houses.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had boasted of opening its account in the election, would not be able to fulfill their dream, they said.
The SDPI candidates for the elections would be announced on March 10, they added.
