Mangalore: Riyas, an accused in the Uppala Hamid murder case and a habitual vehicle lifter and lodged in the Viyur jail, escaped while being taken to Mangalore on Monday morning. His accomplice Kaliya Rafeeq also escaped along with Riyas.

Last year in June Riyas escaped from jail along with Ripper Jayanandhan. Both escaped using pillow as a prop. But they landed in police net soon afterwards.
Police said that the duo escaped while being taken to Mangalore for evidence collection. Riyas has been booked as an accused in over 30 theft cases booked in Malappuram, Kannur, Kasargod and other places.
