Kottayam: Care and Share Foundation patron actor Mammooty accepted the first instalment of Rs 20 lakh of the total Rs 1 crore collected for performing heart surgeries for financially backward kids. The Rs 1 crore help was extended by the Abu Dhabi Sherwood International School. School manager Nebu Mathew handed over the first instalment of Rs 20 lakh to the actor at the shooting site of the film `1993 Bombay march 12' in Kottayam.
Mammooty said all are willing to help the needy but the problem lies in getting the money in the right hands. I am just a guide.The main aim of Care and Share Foundation is to help kids with heart ailments. As many as 3000 persons approached the foundation for financial help.
Mammootty had helped 60 kids and sought the help of others through social networking sites like twitter, blogs and facebook. The Rs 1 crore help was given within 12 hours of his request through social networks. The Sherwood School had offered money for 100 surgeries numbering 20 each year.
