    Vadakkedath Gireesan Nampoothiri appointed Guruvayur melshanti

    Guruvayur: Gireesan Nampoothiri, 48, of the Thiruvegappura Chembara Manackal has been appointed as the melshanti of Guruvayur. He would take charge from April 1 for six months. Among the candidates called for interview, the name of two more persons were included countering the direction of Thanthri Chennas Vasudevan Nampoothiripad. Protesting against this, he boycotted the session and returned only after ensuring that their names were removed. It is for the first time that Gireesan Nampoothiri was selected for the post, He is currently working as the chief priest at Vaikunada temple in Vashi, New Mumbai. Gireesan is the son of Vadakkedath Ravi Nampoothiri and Arya Antharjanam. He would take charge on March 31 night after Athazhapooja.
