Chennai: Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijayakant is inclined to lead a Third Front to contest the April 13 Assembly polls with the Left parties and MDMK to be the likely constituents, DMDK sources said Thursday.
The sources told PTI that a formal decision will be taken after further consultations with Left party leaders, who had talks with the actor-politician today.
"Since MDMK leader Vaiko is not available and is likely to return to Chennai this evening, the leaders will have further discussions to take an appropriate decision on whether to continue ties with AIADMK or float a Third Front," they said.
Meanwhile, Vijayakant told reporters that he would not take a decision about floating a third front in haste and the leaders will meet tomorrow and decide.
Some DMDK workers also burnt an effigy of Jayalalithaa.
