Senior Congress leader Subbarami Reddy said the Union budget would stand up to the challenges facing the economy such as sustained, inclusive and equitable growth.
Mr. Reddy was appreciative of the enhancement of MPLAD fund from Rs.2 crore to Rs.5 crore and requested the Finance Minister to ensure its implementation without any further delay. He also welcomed the permission to export Basmati rice and pointed out that 25-lakh tonnes of rice in Andhra Pradesh was lying unsold with the farmers.
Mr. Reddy said that as per Bharat Nirman, Polavaram Irrigation Project and Pranahitha Chevalla Irrigation Project would be a great contribution and, therefore, there was no point in delaying it.
