The vigilance and anti-corruption bureau has registered a case against Congress MP K Sudhakaran for his controversial speech in which he alleged that he was witness to a Supreme Court judge being bribed.According to Vigilane sources, the case was registered suo motu by the agency yesterday on charge of concealing from authorities an alleged act of corruption despite being aware of it.
Reacting to the development, Sudhakaran said the case against him was part of the ruling LDF's 'political vengeance.'
Lok Sabha member from Kannur, Sudhakaran had made the controversial speech at a meeting at Kottarakkara in Kollam on February 12.
He alleged that he was witness to an apex court judge being bribed by certain persons on behalf of some bar owners from the state for getting a favourable order in a bar license case several years back.
He made the statement at a meeting organised by supporters of Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai, shortly after he was sentenced to one year imprisonment in a corruption case by the Supreme Court.
Sudhakaran's claim had embarrassed Congress leadership but he stood by the statement holding that he would provide the details if he was called upon to do so by the appropriate authorities or his party leadership.
