Alappuzha : Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan has now taken a jibe at Defence Minister AK Antony by calling him ''Kumbhkaran.'' Achuthanandan said that Antony was caught napping like Kumbhkaran when terrorists attacked Mumbai in 2008.
Speaking to reporters here last evening, Achuthanandan said, 'AK Antony is the Convenor of the Anti Corruption Cell of the Central Government. When the scams worth crores happened where was this Kumbhkaran? Pakistan terrorists came through the sea route to Mumbai and mounted an attack, which shocked the nation. Was the Defence Minister in deep slumber, like Kumbhkaran then?'
His remark came after Antony said that Achuthanandan was either sleeping or pretending to be asleep all these five years.
Achuthanandan on Sunday hit back at Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for his jibe at the CPI-M stalwart on his age, calling him an 'Amul Baby'.
'Everyone knows Rahul Gandhi is an Amul Baby and he has fielded Amul babies in some constituencies,' said Achuthanandan.
'Grey hair was not the sign of my growing age, neither the young age proof of my youth. Not bowing my head before the bourgeoise is my youth,' he added.
Achuthanandan also countered Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for his criticism that the Left rule had done serious damage to Kerala and West Bengal, asking him not to speak with 'hangover of a former IMF officer'.
