Gold at record high; crosses Rs 2010 for a gram

Gold posted fresh gains to achieve a record high on Saturday crossing Rs 16,000 for a sovereign for the first time. The price of a sovereign of gold (8 grams) is now at Rs 16,080 with a gram at Rs 2010, up Rs 25 for a gram and Rs 200 for a sovereign. Gold continued to rule at record levels for the past few days and it was expected to cross the Rs 16,000 mark any time. The price increase has been attributed to the rise in gold prices in the international market.

Analysts at Barclays Capital shared their views that inflation concerns were pushing the metals, gold and silver, higher.
