A survey of 83 schools in seven districts of Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal, Jabalpur, Guna, Morena, Shivpuri, Dewas and Sehore) reveals that a year after implementation of the RTE Act, 26 per cent members of Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) had never heard about the RTE Act.
About 44 per cent school principals were not aware of the 25 per cent reservation provision for children economically backward class. In the study area of seven districts, 16 per cent did not have a Middle school and only 15 teachers in 83 schools surveyed received training for the implementation of RTE Act.
