Thiruvananthapuram: The recommendations of the Central Right To Education Act will not be implemented this year in state schools. Though the state cabinet had approved the rules framed by the state as per the central rules, the government has not published any order till date. The file, in relation to the same, is under the consideration of the Election Commission. For the government to issue an order, the permission of EC is needed. The main changes to be made as per the central rule is that 6 years to be made mandatary for admission to class I, shift standard V to LP section and make Class 5 to 8 as UP, change the teacher-student ratio to 1:30. Till now three committees have conducted studies on implementing the recommendations. The Cabinet took a decision on the basis of that. As two more years have been given for implementing the rules, the government decided not to go in haste in implementing it. Though the government had decided to admit kids in class one at 6 years, this year the admission would progress the usual way.
