Twentysix child labourers, mostly from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, were rescued in two different rescue operations from embroidery units and roadside eateries in the Capital, saidChaurasia, chairperson of child rights NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan today.
According to him, the menace of child labour is thriving due to inactiveness of the labour department and the police who have failed to contain the mushrooming of unauthorised factories in many parts of the city.
In the raid, 11 children were rescued from zari units in the Noor-e-Ilahi area of east district and 15 children from zari units and dhabas in the Kapashera area of southwest Delhi on Sunday.
