    Security tightened after militant attacks

Security was tightened in the summer capital of Srinagar after militants shot dead two policemen and injured another in Nowgam pocket of the city outskirts. Police and Border Security Force have warned of more attacks and infiltration bids in near future but maintained that the security grid is vigilant to thwart militants’ designs to disrupt peace and normalcy in the State.

Police said that around 10 pm on Monday night an ambush party of the police was attacked by unidentified militants at Nowgam injuring three police personnel. They were immediately shifted to hospital where doctors declared two of them as brought dead.

IGP (Kashmir range) SM Sahai after laying wreath on the bodies of deceased police personnel on Tuesday said, “We expect many such attacks in near future. Police is ready to take the challenge and thwart militants’ designs”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Indian army is bracing for the hot summers ahead in Jammu and Kashmir. Interacting with the mediapersons Maj Gen Om Prakash told reporters,” Pakistani army is still supporting infiltrators and providing them all types of logistics support to infiltrate inside the Indian territory. The army officer said as per the recent intelligence reports at least 42 training camps are active across the line of control in Pakistan and approximately 250-400 militants are waiting at the different launch pads to infiltrate inside the Indian territory”.
