    Hamsa murder: Accused arrested after 22 years dies

    Kasargod: The 13 th accused in the Hamsa murder case, Keeri Abdullah, 60 died immeteley after he was taken into cutsody by the police. He was arrested by the polcie after twenty two years of the murder as per the direction of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) .He was admitted to Kasargod general hospital when he showed uneasiness by evening and he died by 6.20 pm.Hamsa, a police informer, was shot dead on April 29, 1989, at Poinachi on the National Highway.

    The CBI has claimed that rivalry between two gangs engaged in smuggling led to Hamsa's murder. He had tipped off the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) about smuggling of gold biscuits by a rival gang, following which the DRI seized the biscuits worth Rs. 10 crore.

    Local police and Crime Branch had investigated the case after which CBI was entrusted with it. Abdullah is the son of Moideen and Befathima. Ayisha is his wife. Jubairiya, Badarudhin and Asiya are his children.
