The Sathya Sai Central Trust on Thursday ruled out chances of inducting Satyajit, Sathya Sai Baba’s caretaker, in the trust.
“Satyajit was a student of the Sathya Sai University. He was chosen by Baba to do some personal service. He is an employee of the trust,” V Srinivasan, trust member, told reporters.
“The next head of the trust would be selected from among existing trustees. A decision will be taken shortly. I don’t think he (Satyajit) will be made a trustee.”
It was said that Baba’s family members were not in favour of making Satyajit the trustee head, succeeding Baba. But Baba’s nephew and trust member RJ Ratnakar denied this. “We have no differences with him. We have a reasonably good rapport,” Ratnakar said.
To check attempts to hand over control to one person, Ratnakar said there should be two signatories to any cheque. “I am putting forward this proposal. We will discuss and take a decision,” he said.
Trust members also said the godman left no will naming a successor. “There is no will. We have no information on the existence of a will,” Naganand, a trustee and a Supreme Court lawyer, said.
Srinivasan said the projected value of the trust’s assets was “highly exaggerated”. He refused to divulge the true value. Trust members also dismissed talk that Baba’s health was neglected. On the issue of procuring an air-conditioned casket 20 days before Baba died, he said the trust never placed an order.
