Thousands of students, who came to take the All India Engineering Entrace Examination, were plunged into uncertainty with the examiantions being postponed, reportedly after the questions papers were leaked. The Chennai Regional Office of Central Board of Secondary Education confirmed that the examinations had been postponed.
The examinations were sheduled for 9.30 a. m. to 12.30 a. m. and from 2 p. m. to 5 p. m. but had been postoponed to 12 noon to 3 p. m. and from 4 p. m. to 7 p. m. A spokesman for one of the schools where the examinations were being conducted in the City said that they had not received any written instruction regarding the reason for the postponement of the examinations. He said that the questions papers were apparently returned to Chennai. However, no reason for the developement was given immediately, he said.
Spokesman for another school in the City, where the examinations were being held, said that the parents were anxious and had poured into the school office to enquire about the developments.

The All India Engineering Entrance Examinations was postponed to 12 noon on Sunday.
The examinations were to begin at 9.30 pm on Sunday. The question papers were distributed in some centres here after which an announcement advancing the examinations was made in the examination halls. The students were asked to report back by 11.30 pm.
The examinations are being held in three centres in Kerala -- Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.
The reason for postponement of the examinations was not immediately known. However, there are unconfirmed reports about leak of the question papers in Lucknow.
