Minister announces hike in assistance for labourers’ daughters

    Bhopal

On the eve of May Day, Labour Welfare Minister Jagannath Singh has congratulated labourers of the State and wished for their happy and healthy life.

In the context of May Day and Akshaya Tritiya, the State Government has issued a notification for increasing the amount given as assistance for labourers’ daughters from `5,000 to `10,000.

Labour Minister Jagannath Mishra has assured the labourers that labour laws will be implemented in the State firmly and no one will be allowed to come in the way of labourers’ interests. The process of speeding up welfare works for them during the last two years will continue unabated. He informed that during the year 2010-11, more benefits have been extended to labourers in the State than the last 10 years.

It was during this period that identity cards were provided for the first time to 3.27 lakh workers. Now, all the District Labour Offices are being computerised and linked with the headquarters.

Singh has expected from the labourers that they will remain alert about the laws and welfare schemes made for them. This will help them get speedy justice and they will become partners in ensuring maximum production for the State’s economic progress.
