Governor Rameshwar Thakur distributed Chancellor’s Scholarships, certificates and mementoes to talented students at a function organised by Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGTU) at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.
On the occasion, Thakur also gave away prizes and certificates to the winners of online programming contest code for university quiz conducted by the university.
Additional Chief Secretary Ranjana Choudhary, RGPV Vice-Chancellor Prof Piyush Trivedi, Rector Prof VK Sethi, Governor’s Additional Secretary GK Saraswat and Law Officer CC
Dwivedi were also present on occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Thakur exhorted students not make education a means of only physical gains, but use the knowledge and wisdom obtained through education for the welfare of society.
Wishing a bright future for the students, the Governor said that educational competitions inspire students for moving ahead in life. Participation in competitions is more important than victory or defeat.
Expressing satisfaction over constant increase in the standard of education in the State as well as the country, the Governor exhorted teachers to give special attention to the students’ all round development, ensure quality of teaching and become real guides of students.
On the occasion, the Governor exhorted universities of the state to stick to the academic calendar and try to bring about improvement in the semester system.
At the outset of the function, Thakur lighted a lamp before Maa Saraswati and offered flowers.
On behalf of the university, vice-chancellor Prof Piyush Trivedi honoured the Governor and the additional secretary by offering them mementoes.
A large number of talented students and other people of the State had participated in the function.
