New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Kerala High Court order on the takeover of the Sri Padmanabhaswami Temple. The court also ordered to take an account of the jewelleries by opening the tombs and for this purpose a commitee would be formed comprising HC judges. It was Uthardam Thirunal Marthandavarama who approached the SC against the HC order and the SC issued notice to the state government based on this plea. A final decision would be taken after a detailed hearing.
Earlier, the HC had ordered that the state government should take over the temple after forming a trust or committee within three months. The court also stated that after the regime of Chithira Thirunal Balaramavarma, who is the last king of the Travancore dynasty, the temple rights would not be passed over to his relatives .
