New Delhi : The strike by Air India pilots entered the fifth day today with the airlines operating on just a skeletal fleet of 40, including 13 from Delhi. With the airline's pilots association continuing with their strike, the national airlines was operating just 40 of its total fleet of 165 aircraft, airlines sources said. Flight operations in Mumbai continued to be paralyzed with the airlines operating just 9 of its 55 flights out of the metro. In fact there were nearly 78 flight cancellations from Mumbai till last night, sources said. Further, AI is operating just 13 out of it 65 flights out of Delhi, the sources said. Over 800 pilots of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), who belonged to the Indian Airlines and were employed by Air India after merger of the two carriers in 2007, are on an indefinite strike since April 27 demanding pay parity. The ICCPA claims that fixed salary component for former Indian Airlines pilots was quite low as compared to the huge salary component enjoyed by AI pilots.
