New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday called for safety review of all helicopters following indications that Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorji Khandu may have been killed in a chopper crash.
“Safety is an important aspect so safety of all helicopters must be reviewed. Some introspection is required in all these helicopters, including Pawan Hans,” Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said while replying to questions about the safety of these helicopters especially in view of the crash on Saturday in which Dorji and four others are feared to have been killed.
Earlier, the Congress had lost Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy in a similar helicopter crash.
Denying that there was any lack of coordination between the Centre and State Government in search operation, Jayanthi said that all Government agencies have been working together for the past five days but inhospitable terrain and bad weather affected the operation. The signs of a crash and wreckage have been located but final identification has not yet happened, she said and added that indications are that it is not encouraging news.
