CBI has asked Swiss Timing to clarify its stand on alleged irregularities in the execution of the contract for installation of Timing, Scoring and Results system during Commonwealth Games, a case in which sacked OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi has been arrested.
The Switzerland-based company has been asked to file a statement/clarification before a team of officials from the agency led by DIG Rakesh Agrawal that is currently in the European country in connection with the probe.
The agency has asked the company to reply to the questions raised by the CBI team, official sources said.
The agency has filed an FIR alleging irregularities in the awarding of Rs 141 crore contract to Swiss Timing for the Timing, Scoring and Results system during the Commonwealth Games. The controversial contract resulted in a loss of Rs 95 crore to the exchequer.
Besides Kalmadi, the CBI has arrested his close aide and OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and Director General VK Verma in the case.
The CBI has alleged that officials of the CWG Organising Committee had “conspired with the representatives of Swiss Timing for TSR and the contract was awarded by wrongfully restricting and eliminating competition from other suppliers in a pre-mediated and planned manner.”
