    Student death: Teacher questioned for more then 6 hours

    Chengannor: The police on Monday quizzed the woman lecturer of Sree Ayyapa College in Iramallikkara for more then 6 hours in connection with the mysterious death of Ajith. She was quizzed at her family home at Chenganoor by a team led by CI R Jose. Ajith, 19, son of Balan Pillai of Meppatheth died after being hit by a train.Both the lecturer and Ajith talked for hours over phone every day, police said. Ajith's parents, who after knowing about his relation with the lecturer, met her in the college. When both agreed they don't share any ill relations, they were satisfied. The lecturer's husband Sachin would be questioned on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the lecturer said Ajith was like her younger brother.

    Chenganoor police on Friday held two persons in connection with the death of a college student who died after being hit by a train. Police also seized the mobile phone and the van in which the student had travelled before his death and is probing the student's closeness to a teacher in his college. The deceased is

    Police have registered a case suspecting suicide. Of the two who was taken into custody, one is the brother-in-law of the teacher at the Sree Ayyapa College, in which Ajith was studying. Police got information about Ajith's closeness with a guest lecturer in the college. She was dismissed from service two months back based on complaints by the students.

    Ajith's body was found near the railway track on Thursday after being hit by the Jan Shatabdi Express. The identity of Ajith was established late. But even before identifying the body, the teacher had called Ajith's friends and asked if Ajith had committed suicide.

    Ajith was a second year degree student. He left his house on a scooter saying he is going for a combined study. Police said later that the brother-in-law of the guest lecturer and his friends took him in a van

    Those taken into custody revealed that they had taken Ajith to probe his links with the teacher and they were about to drop him in his house. But when they reached the railway gate, Ajith rushed out of the van to answer nature's call. He ran on the track and was hit by a train. Police got Ajith's mobile phone from the van.

    Natives told police they saw a person being chased near the tracks.

    That teacher should be terminated with immediate effect.
