Kannur : A CPI(M) worker, who was attacked allegedly by a group of BJP activists at Kappumala near Thalassery under Kathirur police limits on May 19, succumed to his injuries early today.CPI(M) worker and fish vendor, K Asharaf, had suffered multiple stab injuries in the attack while he was on his way to sell fish at Subedhar Road at Kappumala near Kathirur.
The post-mortem would be held at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and the funeral would be held at evening, party sources said.
The incident had triggered tension at Kathirur, which witnessed political clashes and large number of police personnel were deployed in the area. However, the situation was under control, police said.
