With a view to supply Narmada river water to the citizens of the State Capital at the earliest, the works related to the project will be reviewed everyday. The Principal Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department will review progress of the project daily. As soon as the responsibility was entrusted to the department, Principal Secretary Alok Shrivastava instructed to complete the projects within time limit to the implementation agency and concerned officers.
Shrivastava inspected different construction sites of the Narmada Water Supply Project. After the inspection, he instructed the construction agency and project officers to work as per the target fixed for bringing water to Ahmedpur Pump House situated in Bhopal.
The Principal Secretary inspected the intake well at Village Hirani of Shahganj in Sehore district, instructed to remove the coffer dam and finish the remaining works within the next five days. After completion of this work, no load testing could be done and pumping of raw water could be started as per the schedule. He inspected the works pertaining to laying of electric transmission line and ordered to ensure completion of the work within the next four days. Five pumps and motor have been erected for the intake well.
Shrivastava also inspected the works pertaining to main components of water purification plant at Village Khatlapura like Aerator, Pre-Settling Tank, Chlorifloculator, Filter etc. He instructed to complete at the earliest all necessary works related to supply of pure drinking water.
It may be mentioned here that 460 metric ton filter media has been received for the filter plant. The remaining 840 metric ton filter media is expected to receive soon. Shrivastava also inspected the BP Tank, Gravity Main, Pump House situated at Ahmedpur and the under construction balancing service reservoir near Birla Mandir. He instructed the officers associated with the project that along with pumping of raw water, planning should be made for hydraulic testing of different components and take action according to the works plan for pumping pure water. Superintending Engineer of the project informed that according to the MoU signed, the implementation agency will run and maintain the project for one year. He instructed to make arrangement for the necessary staff to run and maintain the project and prepare their duty chart and distribute responsibilities.
He also told to make available the remaining amount of `74 crore for the project to the Bhopal Municipal Corporation.
