Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday held a sit-in demonstration against Central Government as well as State Government for their anti-people economice policies. The activists demanded roll back of petroleum prices. They also demanded that Itwara square should be named on Comrade Khan Shakir Ali Khan and opposed the renaming of Bhopal.
CPI district secretary and State media in-charge Shailendra Kumar Shelly in a statement here on Sunday informed that the party held sit-in demonstration demanding roll back of petroleum prices, to name Itwara square in the name of Comrade Khan Shakir Ali Khan and opposing the renaming of Bhopal. They also and burnt the effigy of anti people economic policies of the State and Central Government.
Shelly said, “About 30 years back the than Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State allotted the land for the memorial of Comrade Khan Shakir Ali Khan, even the bhumi pujan for the same was done by the than Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa, but since then the memorial was never made.”
The CPI leader demanded that the memorial of the comrade Khan Shakir Ali Khan should be made at the Itwara Square of the State Capital.
Shelly said that the people of the country are paying the price of the anti people decision of the Union Ggovernment to decontrol the oil companies. Commoners of the country are in trouble due to price hike in petroleum prices since last one-and-a-half-year. The prices of petroleum products has increased 15 times in the last one-and-a-half-year, he added.
The CPI leader said that the situation in Madhya Pradesh is more worst as the State Government has imposed maximum taxes on the petroleum products.
The CPI demanded that the Central Government should take control of the petroleum products and the MP Government should reduce taxes on them and the name of Bhopal should not be changed.
