More funds for rural development under new system

Kottayam : Kerala Rural Development Minister K C Joseph today alleged that the controversy on trifurcation of local self-government department was part of a move to blackmail the UDF.Participating at a meet-the-press programme here, the Minister said, 'the controversy is either due to misunderstanding or a deliberate move.' However, rural development, plan activities and decentralisation of power would not be affected as a result of the allocation of the portfolios to different ministers, he said.

Under the new system, rural development would get more importance, attention and more funds, he claimed.
