Anna –Kitex group chairman MC Jacob passes away
Kizhakkambalam: M C Jacob, founder-chairman of Anna Kitex Group of companies, died here today after a brief illness at a private hospital here today, family sources said. Jacob (78) leaves behind wife and four children. Jacob was admitted to the hospital a couple of days ago following breathing problems. He had won state government's award for his 'comprehensive contribution' to the development of the state. The burial is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday at the St. Peter's and St. Paul's Jacobite Syrian Church at Kizhakkambalam.Jacob founded the Anna Aluminium Company in 1968 with eight employees at Kizhakkambalam. The company gradually grew to become the largest private sector employer in the State. Nearly 15,000 people are employed directly in the group companies that make a variety of products. An export-oriented unit is part of the Rs.500-crore Anna Group of Companies.
