Kozhikode: A fraudulent news about actor Pirthviraj by creating a fake Mathrubhumi front page is being circulated in social networking sites. Police on Tuesday held S Shibu from Nemom, Thiruvananthapuram, in connection with this. Fake messages were circulated through social networking sites Facebook and Orkut. The news `Mob beats Prithviraj to death' with the masthead of Mathrubhumi newspaper dated June 10 was misused for the same. The watermark `Tintumon FX' is also affixed in the news.
The cyber team of Kozhikode city police commissioner Anoop Kuruvila John located Shibu from Nemon Sivan Kovil junction. It was found that his Facebook and Orkut accounts included the news. But it is not clear if he had created the news. The Kozhikode town police would question the youth.
It was as per information given by Mallika Sukumaran, Prithviraj's mother, Mathrubhumi Electronics Media manager KR Pramod filed a complaint with the Kozhikode Police.
