Opposition for Shilpa's kiss in public

Hypocrisy is a word one can apply to the actions of certain people. In the north, there are fanatic Hindu organisations like BJP and Shiv Sena.

Day before yesterday, there was a music program in Delhi to raise awareness of Aids. There were 4000 truck drivers who attended the program. The chief guests were Hollywood actor Richard Gere and actress Shilpa Shetty.

Gere is on a world worldwide tour to raise awareness of Aids and he has visited India several times in this connection. In one of these programs, Radhika and Kamal Hassan have also participated.

During the Delhi show, Gere got a bit carried away and he hugged Shilpa Shetty and kissed her. Such happenings are common abroad and Shilpa is also used to it. Those who attended the program also did not make much of it.

But out extremist organisations who deem this against Hindu culture, started to protest by tearing up posters and burning effigies. They demanded that Shilpa and Gere have to apologise to remove this slur on Hindu culture.

It does not look like Shilpa has paid any heed to something ordinary like a kiss. Richard Gere has requested that arrangements be made to help him leave India with pleasant memories.

When the kisser and kissed are cool about it, why are others bothered?

Whatever may Silpa and the guy think about the kissing, I personally feel that it is totally unfair to do in a public gathering like this, in front of public.

Come on, you are in India and you are trying to increase awareness about AIDS

Kissing in public! Leave alone kissing, any gestures of affection in public is still taboo in India, although it is quite common in the Western world.
Richard Gere should not have done this in public in India. Is it not ironic that he is trying to increse wareness about AIDS and he gets a bit carried away physically with an attractive woman! Richard should have known better.
