Latest News from India - J Dey murder: Chotarajan feared Dey would leak information about him

Mumbai: Mumbai crime branch sources said that Chotarajan had planned to kill journalist J Dey fearing that he might leak information about him to his rivals. Sathish Kaliya, who led the attack on Dey, said that Chotarajan feared that J Dey had crucial information about him and he would leak it if needed. Police stated that Chotarajan had apprised the quotation gang that J Dey had met drug baron Iqbal Mirchi (an associate of Dawood) during his London visit and handed over information about Rajan to Mirchi. Plans were made to kill Dey even before his Philippines visit. Chota Rajan got information that Dey was visiting Philippines to elicit more information about him. Rajan heard the conversation of J Dey through phone and came to know about his visits.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Joint police commissioner Himashu Ropy denied that police had any information on Dey meeting Mirchi. Dey went to London as part of a package tour.
