Thrissur: Those who quit police job during training in police academy would have to remit Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 5000, which is being charged at present. The government order on the same was received by the Ramavarmapuram police academy. New order was issued as majority who come for constable training leave the same without completing it. This would be applicable from the next batch onwards. Those who are coming for nine months training would be asked to give a bond. More than 1000 persons are coming for training each year in Kerala Armed police (1-5 battalions), Malabar special police and Special Armed police sections.

Majority who come for training have PGs, MBA and BEd degrees. Others would be awaiting results of other PSC tests. Training sector IG Jose George said that the fine is levied to cover the loss to the government for the training cost.
