The Van Vihar national park is still awaiting the full time director. The post had fallen vacant after the then director JS Chauhan was posted to Kanha, replacing the outgoing field director HS Negi on June 14. The CCF SS Rajput is shouldering the additional responsibility of Van Vihar director.
The Van Vihar national park is awaiting the full-time director for over 20 days. The then director JS Chauhan was transferred to Kanha on June 14 in a major administrative reshuffle. He replaced HS Negi at Kanha, who switched to MoEF on deputation. The reshuffle was the part of administrative action, in which total 16 CCFs have been transferred on Tuesday.
Sources in the forest department claimed that the administration was planning to post RK Singh at Van Vihar but the official was quite keen on accepting the reins of Kanha. The official also has served at Kanha in the past but the department failed to fulfill the expectations of Singh and in turn, Singh declined to assume office at Van Vihar. At present Singh is serving as the Chief Conservator of Forest (Protection) in headquarters.
Significantly, Chauhan had a brief stint at Van Vihar and was removed quickly. He also had served at the park in the past and was removed in 2007 after battery of controversies.
