A gang of vehicle lifters was busted by the police and recovered two stolen cars and 17 motorbikes from their possession here on Monday. It was also found that the miscreants used to prepare forged registration papers of the vehicles to sell them off.
According to the Jehangirabad police, Shobhit Jain, 25 of Shivpuri, was arrested near Roshanpura crossing when he was trying to flee with a stolen motorcycle. The policemen who were on routine vehicle-checking drive stopped him and began to interrogate him. During the interrogation, Shobhit confessed to having stolen cars and motorcycles from Vindhyanchal Bhawan parking lot and MP Nagar area.
The police also arrested three of his accomplices Jagdish Mewada, Rahul Prajapati and Omprakash all residents of Kalapipal in Shahjapur district.
The police recovered two stolen cars and five motorcycles from the residence of Shobhit on Airport road. In addition, 17 motorcycles were recovered from the hideouts of the three other accused.
