Kozhikode: Drama artist Ambujam Surasu, 66, wife of noted dramatist late Surasu passed away here on Tuesday. She was ailing and died at her brother's house in Manassery, Mukkom. The cremation would be held at 4 pm on Wednesday on the house premises. She made a noted presence in the Malayalam theatre for four decades . Apart from drama, she was also active in women welfare programmes. In 1975, she bagged the best drama artist award from Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. She began her theatre life with the drama` Makane Ninakkulla Sambadhyam'. She entered into professional theatre through `Srishti' by KT Muhammad.She worked with Sangamam, Kalinga, Chiranatha and Kalithara drama groups. Her last drama was Kootukrishi in 2007. Surasu and Ambujam have no children. Her siblings are late drama artist Dasan, M Asokan and late Vasumathi.
